The Carolina Panthers are only one game back of the New Orleans Saints halfway through the NFL season.

The Panthers cruised past one their NFC South rivals, as they pounded the Atlanta Falcons 34-10 at home. The Saints on the other hand, lost 26-20 to the New York Jets at the Meadowlands.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers lost 27-24 in overtime on the road to the Seattle Seahawks.

NFC South Week 9 Standings:

1. New Orleans Saints – 6-2
2. Carolina Panthers – 5-3
3. Atlanta Falcons – 2-6
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 0-8

In week 10, the Falcons host the Seahawks, while the Panthers play the 49ers in San Francisco. The Saints host the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football and the Buccaneers host the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

Week 10 Schedule (all times Eastern):

Seattle Seahawks @ Atlanta Falcons, 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 10th
Carolina Panthers @ San Francisco 49ers, 4:05 p.m., Sunday, November 10th
Dallas Cowboys @ New Orleans Saints, 8:30 p.m., Sunday, November 10th
Miami Dolphins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 8:30 p.m., Monday, November 11th

The Saints and Panthers are essentially battling for the NFC South title now since the Falcons season is all but over. The Panthers face a tough test in San Fran, but the Saints certainly have no walkover at home against the Cowboys.

The Falcons are playing for nothing more than pride now as they host the NFC’s best Seahawks; the Bucs on the other hand are playing for nothing more than to get their first win of the season.
