Schiano: "I Wouldn't Trade Lavonte David For Anyone"

I have plenty of disagreements with comments made by Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach Greg Schiano. But Monday, at his day-after-the-game press conference, he made a statement that is as true as any he’s ever made.

Lavonte David is an irreplaceable piece of the Tampa Bay defense, and worth of all of the praise he’s receiving, and then some.

The second-year linebacker from Nebraska has ascended to the top of the charts among linebackers in the NFL, rivaling Sean Lee, Luke Kuelchy, Patrick Willis and others for the crown of “best linebacker in football.” David’s ability to play the run, rush the quarterback, and cover receivers makes him the epitome of an every down player.

Before the season, there were plenty of debates as to who the most irreplaceable Buccaneer was. And while David’s name was kicked around in those discussions, he wasn’t seen as the player that would be toughest to replace.

But after 13 games of his second season, we can now say that Lavonte is a superstar, and is not worth trading for any player at any position. The impact he has on this defense is incredibly valuable, and he’s likely to keep getting better.

With that in mind, head over to the Pro Bowl Voting Guide and see more reasons why you should vote for Lavonte David, and then head to the Pro Bowl Ballot and cast your vote for the best Tampa Bay Buccaneer player this season.
