No member of the Tampa Bay front office worked with former general manager Mark Dominik as closely as Dennis Hickey, and it seems as if new GM Jason Licht won’t get that same privilege.
According to the team, Hickey has been brought on as the Miami Dolphins GM, ending a long and frustrating search.

Losing Hickey is a blow for the Buccaneers, who would have relied upon his continuity to make sure things run smoothly in advance of free agency and the draft. Despite his role as a close assistant to Mark Dominik, who as fired for arguably valid reasons, Hickey represented the best link between the work already done by Dominik and the new direction the team will follow under Licht.
The Buccaneers will obviously look to find a new Director of Player Personnel in the near future, and may look to hire that position from within, with Director of Pro Scouting Shelton Quarles and Director of College Scouting Eric Stokes representing the most likely candidates.
It was unclear if Licht would have kept Hickey past this offseason, as most executive contracts are up after the draft and most changes are made at that time. But in the leadup to free agency and the draft, Licht will be short one experienced member of his team.
