Pewter Plank Podcast, Episode 33: Discussing the Darrelle Revis Departure

Ken and Leo spent the last episode discussing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offseason changes, but they avoided talking about one specific topic that has the entire fanbase in Tampa talking.

Darrelle Revis.

So for this episode, the guys talk about the decision to cut Darrelle Revis after failed attempts to trade him. Where do the Bucs go from here without one of the best players of this generation?

Did the Buccaneers make the right move in simply cutting Revis? Have they done enough with other free agent signings to make up for losing the best player at corner in the NFL?

If you thought Ken sounded upset in the last episode, just wait until you listen to this one!

Bucs were 4-12 with Darrelle Revis. 4-12!! The Bucs tried to restructure his contract, Revis refused. They tried to trade him, but no one wanted his $16 million contract. They were not a Darrelle Revis away from winning the Superbowl. Signing Verner will ease the sting, you’ll see. Even the dog in the background is telling you that! They gave up Revis and got $16 million in Cap Space and a 3rd round pick. No team was going to trade for the that contract. The money is better allocated in other areas with Lovie’s defense.

At first, I was upset with the Revis move, but the more I look at it, I’m ok with it.
