Day 1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Rookie Minicamp Notes

Today was the first day of rookie minicamp, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have 50 players at practice over the next three days.

The 2014 Draft Class, UDFA signings and others were on display in front of their new fans as they battle for roster spots.

Of course, with that comes some notes from today’s practice. Here they are:

• First and foremost, Mike Evans made a fantastic one-handed catch today that created a lot of attention. You can watch it here. Additionally, Scott Smith uploaded this picture of the catch.

• Evans admitted that he still needs to work on his conditioning.
• Lovie Smith said Evans has been making spectacular catches since he got to Tampa. He made similar plays while working the veterans.
• ASF said he is still limited by his foot injury (stress fracture) but there’s no concern moving forward.
• Charles Sims caught a number of passes from Brett Smith highlighting his ability to be a pass catching running back.
• Smith again confirmed that Doug Martin is the team’s starting running back. He went on to add that the Bucs want him around for a long time.
