Lovie Smith says Da’Quan Bowers is on the roster bubble, and Bowers knows it.
Unfortunately for the struggling defensive end, he has an injury that has been keeping him off of the practice field. He’ll have to be healthy if he wants to make sure he has his job. With the third preseason game coming up on Saturday, and the first round of cuts to come shortly thereafter, Da’Quan knows he needs to make an impact.
As fans, we have watched this saga play out with high hopes, but no excitement. Now, it is time to predict the future.
Lovie Smith has experimented with Bowers by putting him at both defensive end and defensive tackle. And despite playing well in both of the Buccaneers’ preseason games thus far, there is still work to be done for one of the most polarizing backup defensive players in history.
