According to his agent Deryk Gilmore, someone spotted and recorded an enraged Mike Evans getting into it with a bouncer outside of Dream nightclub in March. However, the footage has just surfaced today. As one person attempts to restrain and calm Evans down, another member of his entourage stirs the pot before the entire scene turns physical and spills out onto the street. Once that happened, the Bucs rookie receiver jumped into the fray.
Within a matter of seconds, Evans cannot be spotted on the video before coming right back into frame and throwing an audible punch. After delivering the haymaker, Evans continued to dodge the club’s bouncers before things settled down considerably. You can take a look at the video which was obtained by TMZ here.
Despite the presence of several men wearing “police” vests — we’re told Mike was not arrested. In fact, we’re told NO ONE was arrested.
According to the nightclub’s website, you have to be 21 to enter — and Mike was only 20 at the time of the incident.
This fracas will not go over well with head coach Lovie Smith and the rest of the Buccaneers coaches and front office, if they didn’t know about it already. Lovie has made it clear that he values players with strong character. However, maybe Evans and Smith have discussed this matter and cleared the air. Who knows?
Either way, Tampa’s 2014 first-round pick will probably need to address this situation at some point between now and prior to the Bucs’ preseason contest against the Buffalo Bills tomorrow. Stay tuned.
