The Buccaneers have added six familiar faces to their practice squad for 2014, with four more slots available.
Most fans will be glad to know that the Bucs have added Jeff Demps and Solomon Patton to the squad. The two former Gators had drastically different preseasons, yet both have ended up in the same place.
Demps had began training camp as a guy that was expected to make the final roster with ease. His speed, combined with Jeff Tedford’s need for “speed in space” in his offense was a very promising thought for fans. However, the Bucs couldn’t seem to utilize Demps how they thought they could, and the former Olympian struggled throughout the preseason.
Patton started out as an undrafted free agent, but immediately caught the eye of coaches and fans in the return game. As the team had struggled to find a kick returner, Patton emerged as the favorite to win the job outright. But in a shocking turn of events, the Buccaneers decided to cut him from the roster before the final 53.
Other practice squad additions include TE Cameron Bate, QB Mike Kafka, LB Brandon Magee, and DT Matthew Masifilo.
