Buccaneers at Chiefs: Preview, Where to Watch and Listen

The Buccaneers (4-5) blew out the Bears last week, but have a tougher task this week when they travel to Kansas City for a 1:00 matchup with the Chiefs (7-2). Here, we preview the matchup and tell you where to watch and listen to it.

The Buccaneers have put together a very up-and-down season through nine games. At this point, they appear to be back on the rise, but things get much tougher for them the rest of the way. This week, they have to travel to a hostile environment, Arrowhead Stadium, to take on a Chiefs team that has won five in a row.

Tampa Bay manhandled Chicago last week, coming away with a 36-10 win in front of the home fans. Jameis Winston completed 23 of his 33 passes for 312 yards and two scores, continuing to get by with a struggling offensive line and inconsistent ground game. Cameron Brate had a career day, catching seven passes on seven targets for 84 yards and a touchdown. The defense had its best game of the year, racking up four turnovers, four sacks and a safety.

Tampa Bay is getting a little bit healthier. Clinton McDonald and Doug Martin both returned last week, and the team hopes to get a few more players back this Sunday. Joe Hawley (knee) and Russell Shepard (hip) were full participants in practice on Thursday and Friday, and both are questionable this week. Kevin Pamphile was unable to clear concussion protocol, so he will miss his second straight game.  Luke Stocker (ankle) was limited on Thursday, but practiced fully on Friday. He is officially listed as questionable for the matchup.

As a result of their five-game winning streak, the Chiefs are tied for first place in the AFC West. They’re pretty banged up as far as injuries go, but they could be getting Justin Houston back this week. Last week, Kansas City overcame a 17-0 deficit to beat Carolina 20-17. Cairo Santos kicked four field goals, while the only touchdown for the Chiefs came on a 42-yard pick six by Eric Berry.

The last time these two teams squared off was in 2012 at Raymond James Stadium. The Bucs were dominant in a 38-10 victory, led by three-touchdown performance by Josh Freeman. Mark Barron and Ronde Barber came up with interceptions, with Barber taking his back 78 yards for a touchdown. Overall, Tampa Bay holds a 6-5 lead in the regular season series. The Bucs have won four straight meetings.

Where to Watch

Fox will have the broadcast of Sunday’s 1:00 kickoff. Play-by-play duties will be taken by Kenny Albert. Daryl Johnston has the commentary, while Laura Okmin takes the sideline reporting.

Fans in the Tampa Bay area can hear the game on 103.5 FM or 620 AM. Gene Deckerhoff is the crew’s play-by-play man, and Dave Moore will have the color commentary. T.J.
