With the 84th overall pick, the Buccaneers selected wide receiver Chris Godwin. Here are three things to note about the former Penn State Nittany Lion.

The Buccaneers just keep on building an offense that has the potential to be absolutely prolific. With their third-round pick in this year’s draft, they added wide receiver Chris Godwin out of Penn State. He becomes yet another intriguing option for quarterback Jameis Winston, who now has three new targets at his disposal.

When the 84th pick rolled around for Tampa Bay, there were a few directions to go. The team could’ve looked for more defensive help, or a running back could’ve been in play. However, Jason Licht decided to go with someone that his team has been linked to quite a bit, especially by our draft experts here at The Pewter Plank. Godwin had an impressive weekend at the NFL Combine, showing a good combination of speed, size and strength. While his route-running abilities are often questioned, he has the potential to be a major playmaker for the Bucs immediately. And, with some coaching and developing, he could break out into a huge steal for the team’s front office.
