Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston wants to etch his name in NFL eternity as the greatest quarterback of all time.

This is what is so endearing about Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston – he’s never satisfied. After a disappointing 6-10 start his rookie season he stood at the podium and explained how the Bucs need players that want to win. Last season, he led the Bucs to their first winning record since 2010, but it still wasn’t enough to make the playoffs.

Now? Now, he recognizes the unique position he’s in with the weapons he’s been surrounded with and he can’t wait to take advantage.

In an interview with the NFL Network, Winston praises the acquisition of DeSean Jackson as the deep threat he’s never had in Tampa. To be fair, Jackson is truly the first deep threat the Bucs have had since Joey Galloway.

Then, he seems infatuated with the fact that O.J. Howard is a member of the team, calling him a “specimen”. He calls Mike Evans one of the best receivers in the league and Cameron Brate one of the best tight ends.

Then he comes to himself.

His goal is to be better in 2017 than he was in 2016. Then be better the year after that. And the one after that, and the one after that.

You get the idea.

Winston says when all is said and done he wants to be the best to ever play the game. Now, what else would anyone expect him to say? Anyone who sets foot on that field on Sundays should be working to go down as the best to ever play. For Jameis, however, it seems to be more than words – and Buccaneers fans know that.

Jameis has a love for the game unparalleled by most anyone we’ve ever seen. I’ve often compared him to that of Brett Favre – a big kid who just loves to be out there playing a game at the highest level and soaking up every little moment. With that, he also has a fire and passion to succeed.

Why else would he beat every coach and player into the facility each and every morning? Shoot – if Jon Gruden was still around, Winston would probably still be at the facility more than the head coach and we all know what a psychotic workaholic Chucky was.

If there’s one thing Bucs fans should have taken notice of last season it was Jameis Winston’s improvement from his rookie year. There’s little to no reason to think that trend won’t continue heading into the 2017 season.
