1.        Replace Todd Wash (Defensive Line Coach) and Casey Bradley (Linebackers Coach) with ex-Bucs coaches Rod Marinelli (Defensive Line) and Joe Barry (Linebackers Coach).  

It appears as though the Seahawks are going to help us out in this regard.  They have signed Casey “Gus” Bradley to be the Defensive Coordinator for new head coach Jim Mora’s staff.  

It was being reported that the Bucs were interested in bringing back ex-Linebacker coach, Joe Barry, but Barry instead signed on Gus Bradley’s staff and will be the Linebackers coach there.   

I would have loved to have Barry back, especially after hearing all week that new defensive coordinator Raheem Morris wanted it to happen, and reading these comments earlier in the week: 

“To have a chance to come back here would be unbelievable,” Barry said Tuesday night from his condo in Madeira Beach. “This is the place we used to call Mecca. That was a special time and we did a lot of great things. If an opportunity came about here where I could come back, I’d cherish it.”

I wonder what changed in the last 7 days.

Chris Mortenson was reporting on Sunday morning that Kiffin would continue to be the defensive coordinator for the rest of the season and then step down and head to the Vols. 

The Bucs seem kind of perturbed with the talk of Monte’s departure, not because he is leaving, but because it is a distraction to the current progress we are making on the field. 

“It’s not fair to our players. Tonight is not about Monte Kiffin, okay? It’s about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, our defensive football team, Jon Gruden, our offense, our special teams in a great, great win and we are 9-3. So why would we want to talk about that?”

It also appears as though the Bucs have been well aware of a situation like this occuring for quite some time. 

“Monte and I have talked about this,” said Bruce Allen. “Obviously, when Lane went to coach the Raiders and then prior to that when Lane was almost going to get the University of Minnesota head coaching job. These conversations aren’t anything new.

“Monte and I have addressed the different issues over the years in terms of whether he’d coach with his son or things of that nature. He never contemplated coaching with the Raiders.”

I highly doubt the Bucs would try and block a move to the Vols due to the Jon Gruden’s relationship with the University.
