Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Jeremy Trueblood had a phenomenal breakout season in 2008 and was heralded as one of the better and more underrated right tackles in the league. He followed that great season with a two dismal ones in 2009 and 2010, and he repeated the lows of the 2010 season last year. Despite a poor 2010 season, the Bucs had faith in Jeremy Trueblood due to his 2009 season and gave him a two-year $10 million offer. He is slated to be a free agent after this season, and his contract year has even more importance.

The St. Pete Times has a fantastic human interest piece up on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ James Lee. Lee burst on to the scene last year as he solidified himself as the Bucs starting right tackle and helped the team’s struggling run-game pull itself up from 28th to 7th. But beyond his impressive rise from un-drafted rookie to NFL starting tackle, Lee appears to be a man of extremely high character off the field.

Typically most NFL players do their community service and charity through the team. But with the lockout and the ban on contact between players and teams, that all has come to a grinding halt. But that hasn’t stopped James Lee from continuing to work on his own foundation (to help the children of Belle Glade, Florida) as well as continuing to do considerable amounts of work within the Tampa community. Take for instance this story, about James Lee going out of his way to lift the spirits of a 69 year-old lifelong Bucs fan who is struggling with blood cancer, it’s a well-written piece by Eduardo Encina of the Times and it really highlights the kind of man James Lee is. I’m proud to say he’s a Buccaneer.
