How healthy is Josh Freeman's thumb?

The Buccaneers lost a very frustrating game to the Jags on Saturday and one position raised the biggest concern for the Bucs heading into the season opener, the quarterback position. The Bucs are without starting quarterback and franchise hope Josh Freeman, who is still recovering from a fractured thumb. The reports of his health has been mixed, many believe he will be ready for the opener. But afater listening to an interview with Coach Morris, the reports don’t sound as promising as they have before.

Snead will have to find a new team now

When Tampa Bay signed Jevan Snead as an undrafted free agent, many believed he could win the battle for the third-string quarterback role against Rudy Carpenter. Evidently, that idea was put to an end, as Snead will no longer be wearing the pewter and red.

One reason he may have been let go this early on into camp was the fact that he failed impress to the coaches during OTA’s and mini camp. But nonetheless, he was ultimately released following the signing of first round pick, Gerald McCoy. With McCoy joining the team, Tampa needed to clear up space on the roster, which unfortunately meant that Snead would be the casualty of the McCoy signing.

With Snead out of the picture, the Bucs appear to be set on the quarterback depth.

Jevan Snead Signs Free-Agent Contract with Tampa

The former Ole Miss quarterback had aspirations of being selected by an NFL organziation, but his hopes came crashing down on him after the seventh round concluded and his name had not been called. But his NFL dream didn’t end at that moment, and in fact, it has only begun. Luckily for Snead, the Buccaneers are willing to give him a chance, and have signed him to a free agent contract.

The deal came hours after the conclusion of the 2010 NFL Draft when all the undrafted prospects were officially allowed to sign contracts with whichever club offered them a chance. For Snead, his NFL dream has just started. Though he went undrafted, Snead does have a realistic chance of making the Tampa Bay roster, and if that fails, he certainly has the chance to join one of the other NFL franchises since he was a highly regarded undrafted free agent.
