There has been a lot of speculation out of Miami that when Stephen Ross gains majority control over the Dolphins, that Bill Parcells would leave.  There is even language in his contract that allows Parcells to opt out of the final three years of his contract…and still get paid for it, if and when Huinzenga ceases to control the majority stake in the Dolphins.  

The Bucs have not only flirted with the idea of hiring Parcells once, they thought in their mind that he was hired.

“Recent reports that Bill Parcells signed a contract to be head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after our elimination from the playoffs last season are accurate,” Bucs general manager Rich McKay said in the statement released by the team.

The announcement of his hiring was delayed so he could drive to Tampa. But Parcells had a change of heart and informed the Bucs he would remain retired.

 

Might the Bucs re-consider Parcells after he spurned them once already?  For an ownership team who is no stranger to making big splashes (the potential Parcells hiring, Steve Mariucci flirtations, Jon Gruden trade from the Raiders) this would not surprise me in the least bit.   That makes 4 coaches on the open market who could not only take over the GM duties but also the head coaching duties (Mike Holmgren, Bill Parcells, Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan).  Three of these guys (everyone except Cowher) have experience in both roles for an organization.  

This is pure speculation as most of the talk on the tube is that of Raheem Morris being promoted and Director of  Pro Personell Mark Dominik being promoted to GM.
