White's NFL journey was a long one.

Stylez G. White is definitely a character, anyone who follows him on twitter, has listened to his radio show or even just knows about his name change could tell you as much. If you didn’t know the story behind the name, Stylez was born Gregory White before deciding in 2008 to change his name to Stylez G. in homage to the movie Teen Wolf. But beneath his seemingly unserious exterior is a player with tremendous drive, a guy who doesn’t get near the credit for making it to the NFL and finding success as he should. Stylez G. White certainly seems to enjoy his lot in life, but he worked his tail off getting there.

Last year Cameron Wake burst on the scene for the Miami Dolphins after dominating the CFL and being named its defensive MVP. As intriguing as that story was, Wake was hardly the first to transition from defensive MVP of another league to NFL pass-rusher, White did it first.

After completing a solid career at Minnesota where he tallied 132 tackles and 11 sacks in three seasons White waited to hear his name called in the draft. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until the 7th round, the 229th overall pick that the Houston Texans came calling.

Being a 7th round pick must be difficult, many players admit that by the last round of the draft they would prefer the freedom to sign as an un-drafted free agent and find the best opportunity for themselves. The odds of finding a great degree of success as a 7th rounder in the NFL aren’t high. Every year you get a few 7th rounders who quit before training camp even starts, by the time camp ends the waiver wire is littered with players from the tail-end of the draft. For a young player it can be daunting. Picked in the 7th round, then cut, many players never even get back on the horse after that.

White will be on 1010 AM Tuesdays 6-8 PM.

Stylez G. White, if nothing else, is a character. You can see it on the field, in his interviews and on Twitter on a near-daily basis. Heck, he changed his name from Greg to Stylez G. to name himself after his favorite movie character from Teen Wolf. If you asked me on the street, ‘what’s the most random thing a guy could change his name to?’ I’d say, “Rupert Stilinski! From the movie Teen Wolf!” You get my point.

Well now the zaniness and hilarity that is Stylez G. White will find its way on to the airwaves in Tampa every Tuesday from 6-8. The two hour show will give Stylez a chance to discuss football and anything else he feels like crowing about for two hours. Former Buccaneers Yo Murphy will also get a show in the same time-slot on Mondays.

“The addition of Stylez G. White and Yo Murphy will bring more excitement to the Sports Explosion Network as well as 1010 AM,” station owner Jeremy Miller said. “Both Stylez and Yo Murphy are still very active in the Tampa Bay community, so it makes sense for them to be a part of this network.”

So Bucs fans, if you’re in Tampa and you’re commuting home after a long day on Tuesdays, now you can have your commute livened up by Stylez. Should be an interesting couple of hours from one of the most interesting guys on the team.

The most important issue heading into this weeks game, is the injuries that are continuing to pile up for the Buccaneers.

Jovan Haye and Chris Hovan both particapated fully in practice. After giving up 13,000 yards rushing the last two games, this is an important development. Although both guys are not big names in the NFL world, they are both very effective players, as evidenced by the ass kickings we’ve received on the ground the two weeks they have been out.

Gaines Adams and Greg White were limited in practice. The participation by Hovan and Haye is almost negated by the lack of practice from our starting defensive ends. The only caveat here, I’m digging deep, is that if Kevin Carter and Jimmy Wilkerson were forced to start at the end spots with Gaines and Stylez G out of the lineup, as long as Hovan and Haye are back, our run defense should be better than it is when we have our normal starters in.

Derrick Brooks and Josh Bidwell did not participate in practice yesterday, but both are expected to play on Sunday. DB has a rib injury, and Bidwell was sick.

Most importantly, Jeff Garcia was a limited participant in practice yesterday, but was expected to play in Sundays game. Anyone who watched Brian “Drop Back” Griese last Sunday, will be happy to be hear Garcia is back. Holding of the ball and continuing to drop back as the pocket was collapsing was the main reason for our loss on Sunday.

Jeff Garcia on Sundays game vs the Falcons – “I think for myself, just watching this past Sunday and how difficult that was an frustrating for myself, and not to take anything away from the guys who stepped in because Brian (Griese) did what he had to do, but for me, it was just very difficult to watch and I don’t want to be in that situation again. I want to do whatever I can to help this team and hopefully I am that guy who can do this.”

Jeff Garcia on this Sundays game vs the Chargers – “I’m going to practice, so I plan on being ready for Sunday,” Garcia said. “I’m improved. I feel like I can do more. I feel like I’ll have a better feel when I’m at practice today, but I went through all the (walk-through) pracrtice reps, so I know I’m headed in the right direction.”
