The Tampa 2 is a weekly podcast hosted by Terry and Leo as they try to bob and weave their way through the world of Tampa sports. From the Rays to the Bucs and even the Lightning, if it’s happening in Tampa, the Tampa 2 has you covered.

This week on Tampa 2, Terry and Leo sit down to talk about the biggest news around Tampa last week, James Shields and Wade Davis getting traded from the Tampa Bay Rays to the Kansas City Royals for a package of prospects. Will these prospects every see the field in Tampa or is this trade going to be as bad as some Rays fans are fearing.

The duo also discuss a heartbreaking loss to the Eagles last week and look ahead to today’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints. Can the Bucs turn this thing around, or will we be subject to more heartbreak before the season is done.

Finally, it’s awards seasons, from Golden Globe nominations to high school handouts. Terry and Leo dish about this year’s NFL awards and make some bold predictions as to who is going home with some hardware this year.

Need a good pregame listen? Tampa 2 on The Pewter Plank Radio Network has you covered.

Congrats to Garza's no-hitter!

Although this has absolutely nothing to do with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it is still a major accomplishment in the Bay area. Matt Garza, a former first round pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2005, pitched the first no-hitter in Tampa Bay Rays’ history. The feat was the fifth of it’s kind this season, which hasn’t happened since 1991. Garza joins the likes of Ubaldo Jimenez, Edwin Jackson, Dallas Braden and Roy Halladay (both Braden and Halladay threw perfect games).

Garza just missed the perfect game, allowing just one walk, which occurred in the second inning. At the beginning of the game, Garza utilized his fastball, but towards the end of the game, he brought out his breaking ball more often.

It’s also worth noting that the Tampa Bay Rays are used to seeing no-hitters and even perfect games…but not for them. Since last July, the Rays have been victim to three hitless games, including two perfect games.

The Pewter Plank would like to congratulate Matt Garza on his well respected accomplishment, and for bringing some attention back to the Bay area.
