“It was almost like a normal year in terms of contact, a little less [phone contact] than normal maybe, only without the signed contracts at the end,” one of the agents told Pro Football Weekly.

Traditionally this is the period where the good teams find the real gems. Last year the Bucs were able to come away with a very good group of undrafted players, as did the Green Bay Packers who eventually went on to win the Super Bowl. This year, it sounds like all the same conversations are occurring teams just aren’t able to finalize any deals just yet. Essentially it’s league business as usual, just under the radar.

I’m hoping the Bucs aren’t a part of this, but if it’s widespread enough it may not matter. Trouble is best found in large numbers. The more culprits, oftentimes the harder it is to come down hard. If it’s just a couple teams you can bet they will lose picks. If it’s upwards of ten though, you’re just looking at fines. Hopefully all this foolishness will end soon and we’ll get back to football as usual, but I doubt that’s happening either.
