Former Buccaneers’ DE Simeon Rice to Appear at Comic-Con

Buccaneers’ great Simeon Rice was a stud on the field, and has had an interesting career off of it.  He will soon be seen at a famous and beloved convention.

Any Buccaneers’ fan knows the name Simeon Rice, and with good reason.  He brought a great deal of pain to opposing quarterbacks.  His 69.5 sacks while a member of the Bucs is good for third in team history (including sacks prior to 1981).  From 2001-2005, Rice was in the land of double-digit sacks in each season.  His dominance was felt in the playoffs as he posted four sacks along the way to the Super Bowl win over Oakland.

Well, are any of you Comic-Con fans?  If you are, and you can get out to this year’s event, an old friend will be there.

Simeon Rice will be making an appearance at Comic Con, along with Israel Idonije.  They both will be appearing at the Indican Pictures booth, with Rice promoting is upcoming movie called, “Unsullied”.

Here are some additional details about Rice and his appearance, courtesy of Indican Pictures:

Simeon Rice has had an outstanding entertainment career since retiring from the NFL with ventures in music producing and other art forms. A graduate of the New York Film Academy, Simeon Rice has now ventured into filmmaking and will be debuting his feature film, ‘Unsullied’, through Distributor Indican Pictures, which is set to release the film August 9th. Among other Comic-Con exclusives, sneak previews of ‘Unsullied’, Comic-Con attendees will have the opportunity to Play-the-Pros at the Indican Pictures booth.

Rice has had quite the career since leaving the field.  He started his own hip hop recording label, in addition to all of the directing and production work noted above.  You don’t often hear the term “Renaissance Man”, and especially not when talking about NFL football players.

But Simeon Rice is that rare combination of athletic prowess and brains that should be celebrated more often than it is.
