The Buccaneers select Jeremy McNichols in round five of the 2017 NFL draft.

The Buccaneers keep rolling on in the 2017 NFL draft. So far it has been a balanced set of picks, with two each on offense and defense. For pick number five, Jason Licht broke the tie by choosing a running back. The pick is Jeremy McNichols, RB out of Boise St.

Here are his college stats:

The Bucs add yet another piece to that offensive puzzle. There will be all kinds of options available for Jameis Winston.

More from Bucs Draft

We know the running back situation has been fluid to say the least. It was not good last year, and we don’t know how Doug Martin is going to look. But we do know that there are a deep stable of players there.

McNichols has the potential to work into the lineup slowly. This is not the game where we have “bell-cow” running backs anymore. Most teams have a committee, and this young player can learn behind guys like Martin if he is here, Charles Sims, and Jacquizz Rodgers.

If he looks strong in camp, he has every chance to make an impact, especially if he can make some noise on special teams.
