Buccaneers: First quarter awards for the 2017 season
MVP of the Quarter
The Most Valuable Player award should be awarded to the one player who, without him, the team is nothing. This player should be the focal point of the team and the one that can win the game for them.
Again, Gerald McCoy is possibly playing his best game since being a member of the Buccaneers. The stats may not show how elite he is, but McCoy has been so consistent through these first four games. The sky’s the limit for McCoy as he will only get better as the season continues.
Next: Be Confident with Pat Murray
Looking back at last season, after a horrible loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football, the Buccaneers defense turned into one of the better defensive units in the NFL. Defensive Coordinator Mike Smith has proven that he can tweak the defense to be successful down the stretch.
McCoy sets the tone up front and like I mentioned before, without McCoy’s aggressive play up front the rest of the defense would not be able to accomplish those amazing plays we all love to cheer about.
Honorable mentions for each award, in respective order, are Safety Justin Evans (Evans was impressive during his first start against the Patriots), Jameis Winston, Kendell Beckwith, and honorable mention for MVP would be rookie sensation, Kendell Beckwith.
This concludes my first quarter Buccaneers awards. Who are your first quarter awardees?
