Jimmy Moreland, CB, James Madison

All aboard the Jimmy Moreland hype train.

He may have a small frame and come from a small school, but Moreland is nothing short of a baller at cornerback throughout his college career at James Madison. He now enters the NFL draft and has gained the attention of NFL teams. The Buccaneers should strongly consider adding him to their draft board.

Moreland stands at just 5’9 and 180 pounds, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in athleticism and fight. At his pro day, Moreland posted a 4.46 second 40 yard dash, an explosive 6.83 3-cone drill, and an astounding 39 inch vertical. Being 5’9 is not a problem with a vertical like Moreland’s.

Throughout his career at James Madison, Moreland tallied 14 total interceptions and 42 passes defended; in 2017 he recorded a whopping eight picks. Last season, Moreland put together another solid year, intercepting four passes and breaking up an additional 10.

Head coach Bruce Arians is standing behind Carlton Davis and Vernon Hargreaves as his starting outside cornerbacks in 2019, but stated that the team is still in need of a nickel cornerback. Moreland could fit the bill in that void for the Buccaneers perfectly.
