Adding another safety to the group as well, the Bucs have a chance to grab a talented safety in Brandon Jones from Texas in the fourth round. While Jordan Whitehead has been a surprise in the secondary for the Buccaneers this season for the pewter and red, third round pick Mike Edwards cannot sniff the field, and they have been rotating players in and out at free safety.

Jones is having his best season yet as a senior for the Longhorns, with 41 solo tackles, three and a half tackles for loss, one sack, and two interceptions. A versatile safety that can play over the top and in the box, Jones is a player that defensive coordinator Todd Bowles could have a ton of fun with.

This secondary needs an infusion of talent and they need it quickly given the current state of affairs. While it is unfortunate that the Bucs have to continuously use high picks on the same positions, but the alternative is running it back with the same players in 2020.

The Bucs would be better off adding veteran safeties and cornerbacks to mentor the young guys in addition to drafting new talent. If they can get away with adding talent and letting them groom before throwing them to the fire, then the pewter and could have more success.
