The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the most successful free-agent periods of any franchise in the league, but there are still areas to improve.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the most successful free-agent periods of any franchise in the league during this spring.

The Buccaneers brought back Shaquil Barrett on the franchise tag, they re-signed Jason Pierre-Paul to a short-term deal, brought back Ndamukong Suh on a one-year deal and headlined it all with the signing of quarterback Tom Brady.

As we look back at the free-agency period, here are four free agents that the Buccaneers could’ve had and chose not to pursue or missed out on.

4. Devonta Freeman, RB

Devonta Freeman was injury-riddled throughout the 2019 season, but that doesn’t mean that he still doesn’t have a couple of great years ahead of him.

The Atlanta Falcons released him so that they wouldn’t have to take that $6.5 million hit to the cap, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a great fit down in Tampa.

Freeman is a 4.2 yards per attempt running back for his career and would be a nice complement to Ronald Jones II given the opportunity to heal and get back to his previous self. Freeman is still unsigned currently, but it looks like Tampa has past on him.
