Player #5 for Buccaneers to extend: Chris Godwin

Much like Lavonte David, Chris Godwin is another obvious extension target for the Buccaneers. As a matter of fact, outside of David, there isn’t another player on the roster more deserving of a long-term deal than Godwin.

Even during a down season marred by injuries, the Bucs still field the best receiver duo in the NFL. Chris Godwin and Mike Evans on the field at the same time make it almost impossible for a defense to keep up with the unbelievable offensive talent, and both play equal roles in that success.

While many teams may not want to pay two wide receivers top-tier money, the Bucs aren’t going to have a choice. Godwin has proven that he is one of the best receivers in the NFL, and Tampa Bay can’t afford to pass on such a talented young player.

Godwin’s best selling point is that he is a human highlight reel when he is the target of the play and when he is not. When he has the ball in his hands, Godwin can bust any play open by making defenders miss or out-muscling them, but he is also one of the best blocking receivers in the league.

Tampa Bay wants to keep Tom Brady surrounded by as many weapons as possible, which means that the Buccaneers will throw money in Chris Godwin’s way very soon.
