Bill Burr dropped a hilarious take about Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers

AND he roasted Colin Cowherd at the same time.

The fun thing about being a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan is that it's something of a choose-your-own-adventure. You could, in theory, hear that a celebrity said something nice about Baker Mayfield and dismiss it as nothing more than a forced pleasantry during the media blitz of Super Bowl week. Outside of Cam Jordan, not many would go out of their way to bury Baker, and we will take any compliments about him that come our way.

Or, if you wanted to be a little more spicy, you could enjoy this most recent pro-Baker moment for how it doubles as a shot at Colin Cowherd. In my opinion, that's a more rewarding experience.

Not only did a celebrity -- in this case, comedian Bill Burr -- roast Cowherd, but he also managed to do what so few seem willing to and praised the Buccaneers in the process. It's not every day that we get a celebrity making fun of Cowherd (usually, we have to do that ourselves) so it's wonderful to see someone else help pile on.

Burr appeared on a recent episode of Julien Edleman's podcast, and somewhere in the middle of two consecutive hours spent talking about the city of Boston, managed to not only mention Baker and Bucs but also get in a jab at Cowherd that, frankly, is worth the wait.

Bill Burr found a way to praise Baker Mayfield *and* roast Colin Cowherd at the same time

Burr was on one of his heavily-accented trademark rants when he threw a compliment Baker's way and buried Cowherd for always rooting against him.

"I love f**king Baker Mayfield,” Burr said. “And you know what? I love that Colin Cowherd has to stay up at night, knowing he was wrong and can’t get himself to admit it. And his desk is going to just keep getting bigger."

On the surface, it seems like Cowherd's kinda taking a stray here, until you remember that he's spent a good chunk of his career doubling down on his dumb Mayfield takes from years ago. It's so out of character for him! If Bill Burr has to be the guy that publicly roasts Cowherd hard enough to end the Mayfield schtick, I can deal with it being sandwiched between 90 minute segments about Touchdown Tawmy.

So thank you, Bill Burr. For this one moment, you played an important role in The Discourse this week. I don't care about the Chiefs or the Eagles – I just want to listen to people roast Colin Cowherd for his terrible opinions, and you knew that. In a week full of pointless hot takes, you picked your spot perfectly. The Patriots-to-Buccanneers pipeline grows bigger by the day.
