Buccaneers vs Chiefs; Seven-Up On Arrowhead Addict

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: Bucs | COMMENTS: None Yet

I recently received some questions about this Sunday’s Chiefs vs Bucs game from the fine folks over at Arrowhead Addict.
Without further ado…
1. Ryan Sims is HATED in Kansas City. How has the ex-Chiefs’ draft bust worked out for the Bucs?
He has actually been a very hard worker since he came to our organization, I know that was the knock on him in KC. He is a regular part of our 2nd defensive line rotation, albeit at about 10-15 snaps a game. Sometimes the problem with guys is they are drafted too high, and then expectations are inflated. He is a [...]

Depth Becomes Critical Again

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

About two months ago, I wrote a piece called “Depth, Depth, Depth” praising the Bucs for their strong depth at positions that seemed to be filled by more than capable, solid starting players.  G Jeremy Zuttah seemed to be a luxury pick in this years draft, but Zuttah has played in 4 different games so far this season, starting 3 of them due to injuries to LG Aaron Sears and to RG Davin Joseph.   Word came out of Bucs camp today that SS Jermaine Phillips, who has really blossomed the past year and a half playing next to Tanard Jackson [...]

The Bucs Road Woes Continue

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: Gameday | COMMENTS: None Yet

With the Bucs recently completed loss to the Cowboys, Tampa is now 1-3 on the road, and 4-0 at home.  Our main problem on the road is our inability to score in the redzone, instead taking field goals in crucial moments.  We lost to the Saints by 4 on the road, lost to the Broncos by 3, and followed that up with a 4 point defeat today to the Cowboys.
One touchdown and 5 field goals in our last two road games will not get it done in today’s NFL.  This Bucs squad is solid up and down, extremely deep, and capable [...]

Gruden To Become Buccaneers All Time Winningest Coach

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

With a win on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, who are spiraling out of control worse than Britney Spears after her goods got photographed in that limo, Jon Gruden will become the all time wininigest coach in Buccaneers history.  With the putrid history of the Bucs, this doesn’t say much, but I thought it was interesting that he will pass all the Gruden haters favorite person in the world Tony Dungy.

The Caddy Will Be Back

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

With Cadillac Williams reporting to practice on Wednesday for the first official time this season, the Bucs now have 3 weeks from this past Wednesday to make a decision on either putting him on the 53 man roster, or placing him on IR for the rest of the season.  I listened to Jon Gruden’s Monday afternoon radio show with do it all XM and 620 WDAE man TJ Reeves, and there was no hesitation in Gruden’s comments in saying that the Caddy will be back.  He said he has been punishing himself physically to get ready to play.  Gruden even [...]

Talkingheads Starting To Pay Attention

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: News | COMMENTS: None Yet

My friend and esteemed blogger/writer whatever the hell else he is, Adam Best, from Arrowhead Addict has written a nice piece on the fact that everyone is sleeping on our Bucs.
Home-field advantage would be good news for Tampa Fans, because their Sunday swashbucklers are 4-0 at the New Sombrero. But that’s not the only good news, because guess where Super Bowl XLIII is being played? Yep, these Bucs have the opportunity to redefine the phrase “home-field advantage throughout” by reaching this year’s Big Game at Ray Jay. If they keep playing like this, they might just be able to pull that [...]

Mike “Alsott” Honored

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Fanzone/Tailgating, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Lost in the shuffle of the two big wins last night was the Mike Alstott tribute. From the Orlando Sentinel:
During halftime of the Tampa Bay Bucs win over the Seattle Seahawks, a ceremony was held honoring retired Bucs fullback Mike Alstott. He was presented with two framed jerseys. One in the current Buccaneer red, and then other in the famed ‘creamsicle’ colors from the Bucs of the past.
However, there was one glitch, many thought. Alstott’s name on the throwback jersey was misspelled without the first ‘t” — ALSOTT.
But the misspelling was not actually an error. In Alstott’s first season, 1996, [...]

Bucs v Seahawks Preview

AUTHOR: Dustin Staggers | IN: Bucs | COMMENTS: None Yet

I will not be in attendance for tonight’s game vs the Seahawks which is a special Mike Alstott tribute night.   I will be attending Game 7 of the Rays vs Red Sox.  I shouldn’t have to be there because this series should be over, but I will watch the Bucs game when I get home tonight.
