Seems like all the big networks including NFL.com and ESPN.com think the Bucs should take Kansas State QB Josh Freeman with our first round pick this month.
Freeman is supposedly visiting the Buccaneers at some point in the next couple weeks, so barring a smokescreen, it seems as though there is some actual interest from the front office. In my mind though, a player on the defensive line or a WR is a must with our first round selection, barring a player at LT or CB falling (Malcolm Jenkins, Andre Smith). Everette Brown, Peria Jerry and Darrius Heyward-Bey would be [...]

WR – Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland
At some point in the first few rounds, the Buccaneers are going to have to take a real game breaking playmaker on the offensive side of the ball. Last years signing of Antonio Bryant by ousted GM Bruce Allen was a coup in my opinion. We paid him pennies for what he produced on the field. Subsequently, we were forced to franchise Bryant and with only a one year contract for him, he will be forced once again to produce if he wants to get a long term deal going into next season. The Bucs also [...]

What is the Worst Man Drafted (WMD) Tournament? To celebrate March Madness, theFanSided.com sports network compiled a field of the 64 worst NFL Draft busts of all time. A blogger from each NFL team nominated their team’s worst two draft picks of all time. 32 teams x 2 = 64. After we had our field of 64, the staff here at NFL Mocks did some serious NCAA-style research to seed the field. The Tournament is officially being hosted on NFL Mocks.
I nominated the two players from the Bucs who are currently in the tournament, Charles McRae and Keith McCants.
McRae - Picked [...]
I figured with one of my favorite weekends of the year only a month away, I would start breaking down some guys that could potentially be on the Bucs radar, and furthermore, players that I would personally like the Bucs to target in each of the first 4 rounds.
My hope is to get one player up each day this week for potential Round 1 picks, and then do the same thing next week for round 2, etc.
Without further ado…
DT Peria Jerry – Ole Miss
The Buccaneers’ biggest weakness right now is at the defensive tackle position. While Head [...]
1. Detroit
Mathew Stafford QB Georgia – All indications seem to point to the Lions taking the big armed kid from Georgia with the top overall pick. The Lions let Dan Orlovsky walk in free agency and traded Jon Kitna to the Cowboys, and I feel pretty safe in saying that Daunte Culpepper is not the long term solution at the QB spot. Stafford may not be as game ready as last year’s top QBs, but his upside is through the roof, he can make every throw in the book and he has that extra oomph he can put on the [...]
Two big pieces of news today came out of One Buc Place, both involving the linebacking corps that so many people saw as depleted (I personally didn’t feel that way) after the cuts of Derrick Brooks and Cato June.
First piece of news of the day that I was aware of, was the subtle announcement by the Buccaneers that SS Jermaine “Flip” Phillips might see some time at the Will Linebacker position this season. This is actually something I mentioned as a strong possibility awhile back. With Sabby Piscatelli, Tanard Jackson and Jermaine Phillips at the safety positions, the Bucs [...]
I have been trying to be cautiously optimistic about the potential for Broncos Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler and their new Head Coach Josh McDaniels not being able to resolve their differences. The Bucs seemed to be the team where Cutler would have been headed had the Broncos and the Buccaneers moved a little quicker on the Matt Cassel trade front.
Team owner Pat Bowlen has been unusually quiet throughout this whole saga, in my mind, probably just hoping that the whole thing would blow over by the time voluntary workouts begin tommorow. By the comments that Bowlen made [...]
