NFL Viewing Guide: What Games Will Be on in the Tampa TV Market?

facebooktwitterreddit

This week CBS gets a doubleheader, and since the Bucs are out of town in New Orleans, the game will be televised on FOX locally. However, since the game is at noon and FOX is running with regional action this week, the Tampa TV market gets just one game on FOX.

That being said, there will be two games on CBS making it a total of three afternoon games on in the local market, four if you include the nationally televised Sunday Night Football showdown between the 49ers and Patriots.

So with that being said, what games are on in the Tampa TV market? Get read to set up your picture in picture, as we’ve got you covered with what your menu of NFL entrees will be on Sunday.

FOX – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New Orleans Saints – 1pm ET

Announcers: Thom Brennaman/Brian Billick

Obviously the Buccaneers will be on in Tampa this week, which means the Bucs will be on in consecutive weeks for the first time in what seems like way too long. We’ve got our weekly preview up here for you if you want more on this game. The downside is we have to listen to Thom Brennaman talk like he knows what’s going on for three hours.

Markets in West Palm Beach get the Giants vs. Falcons while Miami Markets somehow get an afternoon doubleheader with the Dolphins playing on CBS and the Seahawks vs. Bills game from Toronto airing on FOX. Miami doesn’t get an early game on FOX due to NFL restrictions in home team markets.

CBS – Denver Broncos at Baltimore Ravens – 1pm ET

Announcers: Greg Gumbel/Dan Dierdorf

We all saw the Broncos two weeks ago, but this time their on in Tampa against the Baltimore Ravens. Of all of the games on CBS this week, and there are some really great ones, this one has to be the best. Peyton Manning and the Broncos already have the AFC West locked up, but with the recent stumbles by the Texans and of course the Ravens, Denver is now looking at the possibility of securing a first round bye. Baltimore, who was once in line to get that first round bye, are quickly sliding down the AFC Playoff totem pole. In fact the Ravens are still looking to clinch a playoff berth and could realistically miss the playoffs if they don’t clamp the bleeding.

The surrounding TV markets get the Jaguars-Dolphins game. The Tampa market is the only market in the entire state of Florida to get a different early game on CBS this Sunday.

CBS – Pittsburgh Steelers at Dallas Cowboys – 4:15pm ET

Announcers: Jim Nantz/Phil Simms

This is the CBS game of the weeks, as over 90 percent of the country will be viewing this game. The only markets that will not be airing this game are the ones in Oakland and Kansas City, as the Chiefs and Raiders play in Oakland at the same time as this game. Really, this is a step above the Saints-Bucs game in terms of playoff implications. The Cowboys are still barely alive in a weak NFC East, and the Steelers are clinging to a 49 percent chance at making the playoffs. Right now, ESPN Insider has the Steelers as the sixth and final seed in the AFC, and they have the Cowboys on the outside looking in. That can all change from now until the end of the season, but while the Cowboys are on life support, they can really put a kink in the Steelers hopes to somehow make it to the postseason.
