The guys up front had a tough road ahead before the year even started, with two rookies among the starters. They also lost their right tackle. But with all of that, they weren’t bad. Overall, the Buccaneers were fifth in the league in rushing, average 135.1 yards per game. Football Outsiders goes into more depth, and ranks the group first in “RB Yards”, which translates into carries that go for 0-4 yards, with 4.86.

They weren’t as good in the passing game, with an adjusted sack rate, which takes into account sacks per pass attempt, of 5.8%, very middle of the road. Rookies more often than not have to adjust to blocking in the NFL passing game, which is less of a natural transition from college.

As these players mature together, there is a lot of potential here for improvement.
