31.
The New York Giants have two starting defensive ends entering free agency, and it’s possible that both Robert Ayers and Jason Pierre-Paul will not be returning in 2016. With a lack of elite pass rushing talent remaining in the draft, the Giants will look to Clemson’s Shaq Lawson as a strong and powerful run stopper with the tools to develop into a respectable pass rush option.

Lawson has slipped a bit lately in his draft stock, mostly due to the amazing Senior Bowl week of Noah Spence, but is still regarded as one of the top edge prospects in the draft. He has the ability to play standing up or with a hand on the ground, and is talented in freeing loose from blockers, allowing him to penetrate into the backfield.

Even if the Giants eventually convert Lawson into an outside linebacker instead of keeping him on the defensive line, Lawson has the ability to become a mainstay in New York’s defense along with young lineman Jonathan Hankins and safety Landon Collins. Having the three youngsters in each level of the defense give the Giants a good core to build around, and makes Lawson an easy selection at No. 10.
.
