North Dakota State. Carson Wentz. 20. player. 30.
The Jets would do themselves a favor by moving on from Geno Smith, and Ryan Fitzpatrick is a short-term solution at best.

Carson Wentz is the last of the three quarterbacks with first round grades left in the draft, and he would benefit from learning behind a smart veteran like Fitzpatrick. An added bonus of being an understudy for a year is it would keep him out of the New York limelight for a season before being thrust into the limelight, and would give Wentz time to bond with receivers Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker before becoming the man.

Wentz has talent, but he also has flaws. Some time to develop is needed, and the Jets might have the best situation for a rookie to come in and grow under. If the Jets were forced to start Wentz though, the presence of Marshall, Decker, and running back Chris Ivory would surround the rookie with veteran leadership to help him succeed, or at least not implode.
.
