Barring the signing of Cordy Glenn or Ryan Schraeder, the Titans will be looking for pass protection to ensure their franchise quarterback is protected.

Marcus Mariota missed four games to injury after a college career where he never missed a game, despite being a running quarterback on one of the most fast-paced teams in the country. This is telling of the state of Tennessee’s offensive line, and the difference between college tackling and NFL tackling.

In the 2016 draft, Laremy Tunsil presents the most NFL ready offensive tackle, and should provide Mariota the protection needed to ensure he can stay healthy during his career. Teaming up with Taylor Lewan would give the Titans crucial bookends and allow Mariota more comfort in the pocket.

Although, Tunsil has injury concerns of his own. When the NFL Scouting Combine gets started, draft experts and teams alike will be looking for medical results, and paying special attention to the mechanics of Tunsil’s lower body as he looks to prove his physical prowess is unaffected by his injuries.

Tunsil also has a slightly shaded off-field story, including suspensions and legal troubles. Although, none of his incidents involved illegal drugs or abuse towards women, fans, or alcohol, so as long as he provides the right answers in interviews, Tunsil seems to be the clear #1 overall selection.

Previously: Laremy Tunsil – OT – Ole Miss
.
