Buccaneers’ Combine Preview – Day 2
Braxton Miller – WR – Ohio State
The Bucs suffered from a clear lack of a deep threat during 2015, and they need to fix the problem this off-season.
Travis Benjamin has creeped up on forums, sites, and social media as a potential target for the Bucs when free agency begins, and linebacker Lavonte David even voiced his desire to bring in Benjamin on Twitter.
However, while the fans and players – and possibly even the management – may want Benjamin back in Florida; the truth is it may not work out in the end. So if the Bucs are in the market for a speed receiver with shifty moves who can take the top off a defense, they may have to look for one in the combine, and Braxton Miller from Ohio State matches the description.
Miller wouldn’t be the first Buckeye quarterback to shift to wide receiver, and he also wouldn’t be the first Ohio State receiver to play for Tampa Bay. What he would be is a threat in the slot and on the outside, and could also open up some trick plays a la Antwaan Randle El.
To get the services of Miller, the Bucs would have to spend a second round pick on him, and considering how high they are in the second it may be too high a pick to spend. If they make the move for Miller however, it would be a move with electric possibilities.
