David Morgan II – TE – UTSA

David Morgan II from the University of Texas San Antonio doesn’t solve one problem absolutely, but could help solve two problems simultaneously.

The Bucs have had some trouble keeping their starting tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins healthy for long periods of time, and have had to resort to their depth chart for much of the play at the position.

Starting fullback Javorskie Lane suffered a broken leg in Week 17 in Carolina, and will most likely return in October at the earliest.

Morgan is a pass catching tight end who is a little heavy-footed moving as a receiver, but has strength and enough blocking ability to fill in at fullback until Lane returns.  He’ll be looking to impress at the Combine, but no matter his performance, he’s already impressed in many ways.

As a second-team All-American on a team with just about zero history and real respectability, Morgan showed he can be a playmaker in the right system, and has become a very attractive late round option.  A player who could be a steal in the sixth round as a sort of utility player, the Bucs would benefit from his multiple talents, and work ethic which will allow him to adjust to whatever challenge the team throws his way.

Selecting the “Roadrunner” wouldn’t boost jersey sales, but in a league where “next man up” has become more of a company policy than motivational motto, Morgan would bring the never quit mindset quarterback Jameis Winston believes his team so desperately needs.
