NFL Combine Aftermath: Who’s Rising and Who’s Falling?
RISING: William Jackson III – CB – Houston
The last day of workouts featured top prospects like Jalen Ramsey and Vernon Hargreaves III. Those prospects did not disappoint, and most of the day featured secondary players who showed an array of talents.
One of the ones which stuck out the most might be William Jackson III – cornerback from Houston. Showing great hip flexibility, exceptional balance, and the ability to track the ball in flight, Jackson displayed all of the right skills NFL teams look for when scouting their next great corner.
Easily the biggest standout from the final day, Jackson put himself squarely on the draft board of every team looking for a cornerback in the early rounds, and may have bought himself a first round grade with some.
He has the speed to keep up with some of the league’s fastest wide receivers, and if he can add some muscle to his frame, could turn into a physical enough player to handle some of the more aggressive players on NFL rosters.
William Jackson III has definitely elevated himself into a grouping with Ohio State’s Eli Apple, and Virginia Tech’s Kendall Fuller, and an impressive pro day could put him above one of the two, if teams see more of what they saw at the combine.
