Losing Sean Smith to free agency seems pretty close to an absolute certainty for the Chiefs, and they’ll need to plug that hole quick.

Mackensie Alexander from Clemson is one of the draft’s top cornerbacks, and if available here, will be an able fill-in who could develop into an All-Pro over time.  He’s a physical defender with strength to back up his style.  He’s very aggressive when jumping routes, but has the ability to recover when his efforts prove to be over-aggressive.

No matter how you address it, losing Smith will hurt the Chiefs, and having Marcus Peters on the other end would mean Alexander will get tested early and often by opposing offenses.

Keeping Eric Berry in KC will prove extremely helpful, and aid in the Clemson defensive back having a successful first season.
