The Baltimore Ravens are going to have a hard time picking between a wide receiver and cornerback with the sixth overall pick, as both positions have a top prospect available at this point in the draft.
Their 2015 top pick, Breshad Perriman, missed his entire rookie season with a nagging knee injury. Veteran receiver Steve Smith is coming out of his pronounced retirement, and is recovering from an injury himself.
No fan base wants to see their franchise take receivers in consecutive first rounds, but for the Ravens it’s a necessary disappointment.
As for Treadwell, he’s overcome his own injury story, and came back to have the best season of his career in 2015. Topping every statistical aspect of his game, he hauled in 82 passes for over 1,000 yards, and finished the 2015 season with 11 touchdowns.
Adding six games with over 100 yards receiving, Treadwell was the focal point of the Rebels’ offense, and showed no ill-effects stemming from his brutal injury in 2014.
He didn’t run at the combine, but will at his pro day. If his time matches what we see on film, Treadwell will be a top-10 pick, and give the Ravens an option for Joe Flacco to open his new three-year contract with.
