Miko isn’t going to like this.
The Dolphins’ secondary isn’t what it needs to be. In fact, Miami’s defense – period – isn’t what it needs to be. The pass rush is non-existent, the secondary is about as put together as Deadpool’s Ikea furniture, and the team chemistry is spotty at best.
Good news for the ‘Fins though, Vernon Hargreaves III knows what it’s like to be underestimated and succeed anyway. The cornerback from Florida is the number one corner in the draft if Ramsey moves to safety in the NFL, and he’s the perfect candidate to contribute to the rebuilding in Miami.
A Tampa native, Buccaneers’ fans would be happy to see him fall to number nine, but his talent is too good to pass up at eight.
He’s heard criticism about his height, and has responded by jumping out of the stadium at the combine. He heard he wasn’t physical enough, and showed the athleticism and quick instincts to stay with any NFL receiver today.
Hargreaves III is a hard-working play maker, and the type of player who can lock down a receiver for 48 minutes any week.
The team has taken steps to keep coveted defensive end Olivier Vernon, and is going to be in talks with Mario Williams who was released by the Bills.
Addressing the cornerback position makes sense, and if all the pieces come together, fans in Miami may finally get the defensive unit they were promised one year ago.
