1. Simeon Rice

Our first choice, had he played today, would have been alongside the Gerald McCoy (above). Simeon Rice was signed prior to the 2001 season, after playing five solid seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.  Upon arrival in 2001, Rice posted 11 sacks, and that was the first of five straight double-digit sack performances.  In the Super Bowl season of 2002, Rice was second in the league in sacks with 15.5, and followed it up with 15 the following year, again good for second in the league.

In the run to the Super Bowl title after the 2002 season, Rice posted four sacks, including two of Rich Gannon in the Super Bowl victory, capping a dominant performance by the Bucs’ defense.  His 69.5 sacks as a member of the Bucs is good for third in franchise history.

He is the obvious choice for number one.
