Evaluating the Buccaneers’ Options After Logan Mankins
Mitchell Schwartz
Schwartz was a second round draft pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2012, and has started every game in his entire career. Last year, Pro Football Focus ranked Schwartz as tied for 6th among league tackles with an overall grade of 86.6. He posted an 86.8 blocking in the passing game, and a 79.0 in the running attack. His side of the Cleveland line was strong, as Football Outsiders indicates that running backs gained 3.32 “adjusted line yards” per carry at right tackle, and 3.39 around right end. They averaged less than three yards per carry over the right side.
Schwartz’s salary came with a cap hit of $1.645 million last year, according to Over the Cap. As one of the top available free agents, it will take some money to bring him in. The Bucs have the money to pay him. He would be an excellent choice.
