Joe Barksdale

Barksdale was chosen by the Oakland Raiders in the third round of the 2011 draft.  After toiling for a year in Oakland, and riding the bench in St. Louis in 2012, he became a starter in 2013, and started all but three game for the balance of his Rams’ career.  He then went to California one year before the Rams to play for the Chargers, and started every game for San Diego last season.

Pro Football Focus ranked Barksdale 21st in the league with a 79.3 overall grade.  He jumps up to an 82.4 in the passing game, proving that he would be a guy that can sufficiently protect Jameis Winston.  He fell to 68.0 in the running game, but San Diego had a bad year overall in that area.

Spotrac put his cap hit at just over $2 million last year, making him a guy that would take a raise, more than some of the other guys we have talked about, but not to the level of Schwartz.  Even with a raise, he would be a guy worth a look from the Bucs, a team with the fourth most salary cap room in the league.
