2016 NFL Mock Draft Version 3.0: Free-Agency Impact
Jacksonville has been one of the loudest voices, and has made the biggest splash, during the early part of this off-season. Inking several big names to contracts, the team is looking to put their defense on the same accelerated course their offense appears to have taken in the last year.
On the defensive side of the ball, the team has addressed every level except one through free agency, presumably leaving it to the draft.
Myles Jack from UCLA is the linebacker the team needs to complete their defensive overhaul. Joining Tashaun Gipson, Malik Jackson, and Prince Amukamara, the versatile defender will tie all of the pieces together nicely.
The return of last year’s first round selection, Dante Fowler Jr. will only add to the crop of first year Jaguars if he can return to the form which made him a top pick out of Florida.
Jacksonville was home to the ninth worst defense in the NFL, and squandered most of the progress the offense had made in 2015. Using their cap wealth to bring in talented players from all over the league, a solid draft beginning with a jack-of-all-trades (pun intended) will make the Jags scary on paper. We’ll see if it translates onto the field.
