53. . CB. Florida State. Jalen Ramsey. 2. player

The Browns are in the precarious situation of having needs just about everywhere. In such a situation, there’s really only one thing to do – take the top prospect available. In this case it’s Jalen Ramsey from Florida State.

The cornerback prospect out of Tallahassee is the draft’s most versatile secondary player, and gives Cleveland an instant starter and playmaker to help defend passes. With veteran Donte Whitner being surrounded by speculation he might be released, the team will need his replacement whether it’s for this year or next.

Cleveland appears to be re-booting their efforts and purging their roster of age and money.  Karlos Dansby and Dwayne Bowe are just the latest, and they only add to the needs highlighted on the Browns’ draft board.

For a team with an overwhelming need for impact talent, Ramsey is the best chance they have of capturing a performer who will come in on day-one and outperform most of the players on hand.

Regardless of whether he starts opposite Joe Haden, with Donte Whitner or in place of him, Ramsey is the sure-fire player the Browns should be taking 2nd overall.
