2016 NFL Mock Draft Version 4.0 – The Free-Agency Update
The San Francisco 49ers haven’t found a franchise willing to pay the price they are demanding to send Colin Kaepernick elsewhere. It’s looking more and more like Kap will be on the roster on April 4th when the team starts its off-season program. If he is, then there’s a chance the team and the player can rebuild, and he may even start to like playing for the team again once he gets a taste of new head coach Chip Kelly’s offense.
If they have a starting quarterback, then it makes little sense to spend a 7th-overall pick on a backup. It makes much more sense to spend the pick on a target which might help make the strained relationship a little better.
Laquon Treadwell from Ole Miss is the top receiver in this year’s class, and would be a nice new member of the franchise. Veteran Anquan Boldin doesn’t seem to be coming back, and Torrey Smith didn’t pan out as the deep threat they hoped he’d be when they lured him away from Baltimore.
Treadwell is a talented receiver with a nice skill set which should translate well at the NFL level. The Niners need to make something happen this year to get the team back on track, and getting the top wideout is one step in the right direction.
