2016 NFL Mock Draft Version 5.0-Two Full Rounds
The Chargers had a top-10 offense in 2015, despite a struggling running game, and it was all thanks to Philip Rivers.
This off-season, San Diego has rewarded his efforts by bringing back the better of his two offensive tackles, long-time favorite target Antonio Gates and some new talent in wide receiver Travis Benjamin.
All of these point to the team having an offense which can hang with the best the AFC West has to offer, especially now that Mark Sanchez is quarterbacking the Denver Broncos.
Where the team didn’t fare so well was on defense. The team gave up over 2,000 yards to opposing running backs and were fourth worst in the NFL with 17 rushing touchdowns allowed.
There is help to be had though, and Oregon defensive end DeForest Buckner is the best talent and the best chance the Chargers have of fixing their front end defense.
The versatile lineman is a natural fit in the 3-4, and will immediately make the team’s front end stronger against the run while generating a better pass rush.
