Five Surprise Picks in the First Round for the Buccaneers

3. William Jackson III | CB | Houston

If the Buccaneers are to take a corner in the top ten, I think it will be William Jackson, not Vernon Hargreaves. Jackson has the complete package, size, speed, ball skills and is scheme diverse. Jackson showed exactly the type of guy that rises to the occasion with a phenomenal combine, but an even better Peach Bowl against the Seminoles. He won MVP of that game with ten tackles, two interceptions and two pass breakups. Even more than that Jackson only allowed 49.5% of passes his way to be completed. Jackson shadows receivers up and down the field and is quick in and out of his breaks and rarely gets burned.

He isn’t without flaws as Jackson needs to add some weight to compete with NFL receivers, but we have all seen how corners with his size and speed get pushed up the board. I think Jackson is a top sixteen pick and if the Buccaneers would like to add a potential lock down corner, they will have to do so in the first round.
