2016 NFL Mock Draft 8.0: Post Trade Edition
Look at the Giants’ roster and the biggest holes have to be at the linebacker and running back positions. Whether it’s due to a weaker class, or because of bigger needs by other teams, the Giants have their pick of the best player at one of those positions.
The clear-cut number one running back prospect in this year’s draft is Ezekiel Elliott from Ohio State.
The Buckeyes’ running back almost single-handedly carried his team to a National Championship in 2015 and led them to a Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame in 2016.
As a runner, Elliott is both shifty and powerful with enough moves to dodge some would-be tacklers and the strength to break out of the grasps of others.
His pass receiving skills were seldom used in Columbus, but are adequate if not above average. He’s a solid blocker and Eli Manning will continue his consecutive starts streak with a teammate like Elliott in his backfield.
Previous Pick: Laquon Treadwell – WR – Ole Miss
