Carson Wentz. 2. player. 54. . QB. North Dakota State

If you look at the quarterback situation in Philadelphia it’s easy to see why the Eagles decided to pull the trigger on a trade which sent them to #2 after initially trading up from 13th overall.

If the Rams take Carson Wentz, then Philly can select Jared Goff and send incumbent Sam Bradford to a team like the Jets or Broncos who are searching for their future at the position.  Meanwhile, Goff could come in and work with guys like Jordan Matthews and 2015 first-round pick Nelson Agholor to try to get the Eagles’ offense back on track.

If the pick in Los Angeles is Goff as I predict, then Philadelphia gets Carson Wentz to groom behind Bradford and backup Chase Daniel.  Under no circumstances should the Eagles feel compelled to bring Wentz to action prematurely as he will need some time to adjust to NFL competition and speed.

Ultimately, Wentz is a prospect with plenty of upside in his future.  With an elite quarterback coaching staff on hand, the Eagles should find their patience comes with a prize in the end, and sets their franchise on course to compete in an always competitive NFC East.
