Jacksonville has done a lot to improve the league’s 9th worst defense which gave up an average of 375 yards per game. To make matters worse, the Jags also gave up 22.6 first downs per game which makes them the easiest team to convert against in 2015.
Malik Jackson, the return of 2015 first-rounder Dante Fowler Jr, and the addition of cornerback Prince Amukamara will help significantly but it doesn’t mean the team is where they need to be.
Myles Jack from UCLA is the draft’s best linebacker after a torn ACL suffered by Notre Dame’s Jaylon Smith. Of course, Jack is coming off of an injury of his own, but looks to be good to go for training camp and barring re-injury should be ready to take the field when the season kicks off in September.
As one of the most athletic prospects available in this year’s class, Jack can bring a whole new level of effectiveness to a Jaguars’ team who saw substantial growth on offense in 2015. With Indianapolis struggling to put things together around their franchise quarterback, Jacksonville has pushed all their chips in to climbing atop the division and adding Jack will continue that push.
